Cupple

THE BEST WAY FOR COUPLES TO KEEP IN TOUCH BETTER

- GIZMODO 'App of the Day' Valentines Day 2012

"Cupple does an elegant job of bringing it all together in one app" - Stuart Dredge, The Guardian

"If you’re looking for a way to share moments with your loved one while on the road, or from up the street on your way from home, Cupple could be a nice way to text less and share more." - Drew Olanoff, The Next Web

"The key thing is that it encourages intimacy. It’s the kind of app that’s particularly ideal for the couple who have to frequently travel for work but still want to keep in regular contact, even if it’s simply to say they saw something and thought of the other person."
- Jennifer Allen, 148apps

Cupple makes private social

Couples love spending “quality time” together. But they don’t always want to be locked away…

Cupple was the first iPhone app to provide two people with a space where they could share words, photos and life experiences, away from the hustle and bustle of networks such as Facebook and Twitter. It is now being used across the world, from the USA to Europe, China, South Africa and the Middle East.

Couples love having their own private world. But they also want to socialise with friends and family. That’s why Cupple is now giving lovers the option to share some of their special moments with the other people in their lives.

The story so far…

Cupple provides two people with an attractive shared timeline where they can post words, pictures and locations.  Since launching in late 2011, it has received praise in The Next Web, TechCrunch, The Wall Street Journal and The Guardian, and was Gizmodo’s App of the Day on Valentine’s Day this year. It launched its “Version 2” at this year’s SXSW conference in Texas.

So what’s new?

  • Check in together: Couples can check into a spot together and post photos to their Cupple timeline.
  • “Date Places”: Cupple users can now share their favourite places by posting them on their Facebook walls. It’s a great way of recommending spots to friends, who can also click the link to the place’s foursquare page for more comments and photos.
  • Photo album: Cupple users can build a “Cupple photos” album in Facebook, which is a scrapbook of all their moments together that they want to share.
Tim Allison of Cupple says “People are using Cupple to plan weddings, share private photos of their kids and long distance couples love it also. We find the women love the intimacy and the fun and the guys love the fact all the messages and pictures are kept in one place”.

Love shines a Light

Private sharing is a relatively new concept in the mobile digital world. To date, the emphasis has been around building networks, collecting ‘friends’ and accumulating digital contacts to share things with.

The Mighty Eagle

Last week we were in London for the Planet of the Apps conference. It was a fantastic 3 days and we met some great people from the business world. We took the opportunity to get on stage and present Cupple to a panel of leading VC’s from Europe. The pitch went well and we answered questions thrown to us afterwards and made a contact with a potential investor in London. The highlight of the trip had to be an encounter with Peter Vesterbacka, the Mighty Eagle of Angry Birds.

During the lunch break on day two we were on the same table as Peter and had the chance to talk to him about the phenomenon that is Angry Birds. The conversation was truly inspiring and we got the chance to present Cupple right there to him after he asked us what we were up to. It’s not every day you leave an experience with a business card that has ‘Mighty Eagle’ on it.

The moral of the story is to get out there. Meet other people in your space. Put yourself in situations you normally wouldn’t. Get feedback on your idea. Speak to the best in the business. Opportunity has a funny way of favouring the brave.
